Frequently Asked Questions
How does Splinter Out work, and is it painful?
Splinter Out is designed to make splinter removal safe, quick, and virtually painless. Each tool is a fine, sterile, and flexible metal probe with a uniquely designed, angled tip. The method is simple: the hooked tip is gently guided alongside the splinter under the skin’s surface. Once in position, a slight twist or pull allows the hook to engage and secure the splinter. This technique effectively loosens and extracts the splinter from its embedded position without the need for digging, squeezing, or using unsterile needles, which can cause pain, breakage, or push the splinter deeper. The process minimises tissue disruption, significantly reducing discomfort and the risk of infection compared to traditional methods.
Is the product truly sterile and safe to use?
Sterility and safety are paramount in the design of Splinter Out. Each remover is individually wrapped in a sterile medical-grade package, guaranteeing a hygienic, single-use application. This eliminates the risk of introducing bacteria into the wound, a common hazard with improvised tools like household tweezers or needles. The sealed packaging ensures the tool remains sterile until the moment you open it. Furthermore, the smooth, fine tip is engineered to navigate delicately without causing unnecessary damage to the surrounding skin. By providing a dedicated, sterile instrument, Splinter Out transforms a typically risky procedure into a controlled and clinically safe process for both children and adults.
How many removers come in a pack, and how should I store them?
Each purchase of Splinter Out includes ten individually wrapped, sterile removers. These ten units are conveniently housed in a durable, hard plastic case. This case is designed not just for initial packaging, but for practical, long-term storage. Its reusable nature allows you to keep your remaining Splinter Out tools organised, protected from dust and moisture, and easily accessible in your home, travel, or adventure first-aid kit after the initial pack is opened. Having multiple units on hand ensures you are prepared for future incidents, making it an economical and practical solution for families, workshops, and outdoor enthusiasts. Simply use one sterile tool as needed and return the case to your medicine cabinet or kit.
