S301 Single Traction Splint

By:

The S301 Single Traction Splint boasts stainless steel construction and is is designed to treat single leg proximal third and mid shaft fractures.

SKU: DM-SAGER

Brand:

The S301 Single Traction Splint is designed to treat single leg proximal third and mid shaft fractures.

The splint features dynamic traction that is at the same time gentle and quantifiable. It supports the graded reduction of traction force in response to decreases in muscle spasms and increases in leg length. This allows First Responders to document the precise amount of traction applied .

Sager traction splints are also designed to apply straight in line traction that is medial to the injured femur (thigh bone). They ensure an anatomically correct point of countern traction. The splints can also be applied in any position. The patient can be moved and handled with no risk of traction loss.

Designed to fit patients fitting within the 5th to 99th percentile of sizes, for near universal sizing.

Stainless steel construction for optimal durability.

The splint is supplied complete with all accessories needed for use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the traction mechanism on the S301 splint safe and effective?

The S301 traction splint employs a dynamic, quantifiable traction system that prioritizes both patient safety and clinical precision. Unlike static splints, its mechanism is designed to be gentle and responsive. It applies the precise force necessary to stabilize the fracture and align the limb, which alleviates pain by reducing muscle spasms. Crucially, as these spasms decrease and the leg length naturally increases with alignment, the splint intelligently allows for a graded reduction in traction force. This prevents over-traction. Furthermore, the integrated traction scale enables First Responders to document the exact poundage applied, providing vital information for handover to emergency department staff and ensuring continuity of care.

How does the Sager S301 traction splint design improve application and patient handling?

The S301 is engineered for anatomically correct and versatile application. It applies straight, in-line traction medial to the injured femur, which is the biomechanically optimal position to stabilize mid-shaft and proximal third fractures. Its unique design ensures the point of counter-traction is correctly placed at the ischial tuberosity, maximizing stability and comfort. A key operational advantage is that it can be applied with the patient in virtually any position—whether found seated in a vehicle or lying on the ground. Once secured, the traction lock maintains constant force, meaning the patient can be safely log-rolled or moved without any risk of traction loss, streamlining extrication and transport.

Is this a one-size-fits-all solution, and what is its construction quality?

Yes, the S301 traction splint is designed for near-universal sizing, comfortably accommodating patients from the 5th to the 99th percentile. This is achieved through a telescoping design and adjustable components, making it a reliable, single-device solution for most adult populations. In terms of durability, it is built to withstand the rigors of emergency response. Its core is constructed from high-grade stainless steel, ensuring it remains reliable in demanding environments. Finally, it is supplied as a complete, ready-to-deploy kit, including all necessary straps, the ischial pad, and the ankle hitch, so responders have everything needed for immediate application.
