GluStitch is designed for closure of superficial skin wounds with minimal tissue loss. It employs octyl and butyl cyanoacrylate adhesives that offer around 20% of holding power compared to sutures. It also forms a microbial barrier to control the risk of infection. However, the risk of scarring and/or infection is lower than would be the case if suturing was used. This product is also ideal for contoured areas like fingers or toes or for use on areas involved in musculoskeletal movements e.g. joints. In cases in which sutures have been removed before wound healing has been completed, GluStitch may be employed to ensure healing continues.
