Patella stabilizer braces are designed mainly for the treatment of patella (kneecap) instability problems like subluxation and tilting. To control the movement of the kneecap, these knee braces are normally equipped with buttresses or gel rings around the kneecap. Patella stabilizers are also sometimes called patella braces.
In addition to stabilizing the patella, the kneecap buttresses included in patella braces also provide passive massage to control swelling of the knee.
Patella stabilizers can sometimes include features like springs or hinges that provide lateral joint stability in addition to kneecap stability. Furthermore, these braces can also be designed with additional therapeutic features such as compression to control pain and inflammation. Some are also made from materials such as neoprene in order to provide warmth for further pain control.
