The LP Cervical Collar uses a hook and loop design for optimal user comfort and restricts head/neck movement to aid recovery from neck strains, and wry neck. Its polyester/nylon mix makes it the ideal solution for those with neoprene allergies.
Made of medium density foam (17 mm), the LP Cervical Collar is covered with cotton stockinette to provide a contoured cut for your chin.
The collar has a hook and loop closure at the back which makes it easy to adjust the fit for your needs. We suggest a fit that is snug to the point that it restricts your head movement. In addition, your chin should not slide inside the collar or protrude over it. The brace’s lower edge should make comfortable contact with your body. Moreover, the padded edge should be the only part in contact with your skin.
The collar restricts your ability to flex or extend your cervical spine, thus promoting recovery from injury to your neck or spine. The collar also provides therapeutic support following a neck injury and can help shorten recovery times. You can also use it at night to correct posture.
You should wear the collar continuously unless otherwise advised by your doctor. Take it off before sleeping, but put it back on upon awakening and before getting out of bed. In some cases, however, your doctor may advise you to wear it while sleeping. If so, you may find it more comfortable to sleep in a reclining chair or with a pillow under your shoulders. Doing so may keep your neck in a more comfortable position.
Please consult with your doctor on the period of time for which the collar should be worn. Wearing it for too long may produce adverse results.
The collar is composed of 85% polyester and 15% nylon. As a result, it’s a good choice for you if you have a history of being allergic to neoprene.
How do I put on the LP Cervical Collar?
- Look straight ahead with your chin parallel to the floor
- Apply the collar around your neck, following the snugness guidance given above
- Ensure that your breathing is not restricted in any way
- If the fit is not comfortable, remove the collar and try again.
