Dr Max Alastair Trotz, MBBS (State Examination), MRCP (Edin), DCH

Dr. Max Trotz was born in Guyana, South America and received his secondary school education at the prestigious Queen’s College from 1977 to 1984. On the basis of his performance at the University of London General Certificate of Education examinations , he was awarded a scholarship to study medicine in the then German Democratic Republic (GDR).

In March 1993, he graduated from the University of Leipzig with the primary medical qualification State Examination (MBBS equivalent). From November 1993 to January 1994, he worked in the orthopaedic department at St Elizabeth Hospital in Beckum, West Germany.

Then, from January 1994 to May 1995, he was employed in the General Medicine department of the Schmolln Hospital, District Altenburg, GDR. In April 1995, he completed a dissertation at the Clinic for Orthopaedics in Leipzig about the treatment of spinal fractures with an external fixation method. This dissertation is a prerequisite in Germany for a doctor to be allowed to use the title Dr. Med.

In November 1995, Dr. Trotz  migrated to the United Kingdom.. He obtained the MRCP in paediatrics from the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh in March 2001 as well as the Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, London in the same month. The MRCP is the qualification conferred by the Royal College of Physicians, which is a prerequisite for undertaking the training programme required to become a consultant physician or paediatrician in the UK. The DCH is a qualification sometimes pursued by general practitioners (family doctors) who either have a special interest or simply would like to enhance their expertise in paediatrics.

Dr. Trotz completed his family doctor (GP) training on 19th March 2023 (with the award of the MRCGP – Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners) and, since 20/03/23, has been working as a family practitioner (doctor) at Druid Group (a GP Practice) in Birmingham, England. He also obtained the DRCOG (Diploma of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) in Nov 2022.

Within his professional life, Dr Trotz has an interest in writing articles for medical journals. Later on in his career, he would like to devote some of his time to teaching and writing questions for medical examinations.
