SKU: DM-10306

Category:

GluStitch is designed for closure of superficial skin wounds with minimal tissue loss. It employs octyl and butyl cyanoacrylate adhesives that offer around 20% of holding power compared to sutures.

It also forms a microbial barrier to control the risk of infection. However, the risk of scarring and/or infection is lower than would be the case if suturing was used.

This product is also ideal for contoured areas like fingers or toes or for use on areas involved in musculoskeletal movements e.g. joints. In cases in which sutures have been removed before wound healing has been completed, GluStitch may be employed to ensure healing continues.

Glustitch Applications

Glustitch, also known as tissue adhesive or surgical glue, is a medical adhesive used for wound closure and skin laceration repair. Here are some of its key applications:

  • Emergency Room and Urgent Care Settings: Glustitch is commonly used in emergency rooms and urgent care clinics to quickly and effectively close minor wounds and lacerations. It provides a convenient alternative to traditional sutures or stitches for wounds that are small, clean, and shallow.
  • Minor Surgical Procedures: It can also be used in minor surgical procedures where precise wound closure is required, such as dermatological procedures, biopsies, and excisions. It offers a fast and efficient method of wound closure with minimal tissue trauma and scarring.
  • Pediatric Care: Glustitch is often used in pediatric care settings for wound closure in children, particularly for minor injuries and lacerations that may be challenging to suture due to the child’s movement or fear of needles. Its quick application and painless procedure make it well-suited for pediatric patients.
  • Sports Medicine: The product is commonly used in sports medicine for the immediate closure of minor wounds and lacerations sustained during athletic activities. It allows athletes to quickly return to play without the need for prolonged wound care or sutures.
  • Dermatological Procedures: Dermatologists frequently use Glustitch for wound closure following skin biopsies, mole removals, and other dermatological procedures. Its adhesive properties provide a reliable method of wound closure without the need for sutures or bandages.
  • Veterinary Medicine: Glustitch is also used in veterinary medicine for wound closure in animals, particularly for small cuts, abrasions, and surgical incisions. Its quick application and strong adhesive properties make it useful for minimizing wound healing time in animals.
  • Military and Field Medicine: In military and field medicine settings, it is used for the immediate closure of wounds sustained in combat or other emergency situations where access to medical facilities may be limited. Its rapid application and effectiveness in wound closure make it a valuable tool in these environments.
  • Cosmetic Procedures: It may be used in cosmetic procedures such as skin rejuvenation treatments, laser resurfacing, and chemical peels to assist in wound closure and minimize scarring. It provides a non-invasive alternative to sutures or staples in certain cosmetic procedures.

Overall, Glustitch is a versatile medical adhesive with numerous applications in wound closure and skin laceration repair across various medical specialties and settings. Its ease of use, rapid application, and reliable wound closure make it a preferred choice for many healthcare professionals.
