Mueller Sports Medicine Reusable Cold/Hot Pack – Cold Therapy Usage

You can use the Reusable Hot/Cold Pack for cold therapy in the immediate aftermath of an acute injury, particularly if it results in bleeding. Such an injury may result from a fall, a blow or suddenly twisting or pivoting to avoid an opponent, etc. Cold therapy will reduce your metabolism and rate of blood flow. It will also cause vasoconstriction of the blood vessels around the injury, which will reduce the amount of bleeding.

To use the Hot/Cold Pack for cold therapy, keep it in a freezer or refrigerator for a few hours before the event. If an injury occurs, it will be ready for immediate use.

You can apply the pack to the injury for periods of 10-20 minutes at a time every 2-3 hours. Continue doing so for up to 48 hours.

To protect your skin, we recommend you use a towel or similar object to avoid the pack directly touching your skin.

After bleeding has stopped, you can start to apply combined cold/hot therapy. Do so by applying a cold pack for 10 minutes, followed right away by a hot pack for the same period. The hot pack will increase blood flow to the injury. This fresh blood will bring nutrients needed for healing.

Mueller Sports Medicine Reusable Cold/Hot Pack – Heat Therapy Usage

You can use the Mueller Sports Medicine Reusable Cold/Hot Pack to apply heat therapy to chronic injuries. These types of injuries may result from overuse of a joint. Heat therapy may also be useful in treating acute injuries that were not properly addressed in the early stages.

To use the pack for heat therapy, place it in a microwave oven for a few minutes and it will be ready to go.

As with cold therapy, we recommend that you avoid direct contact of the pack with your skin. To avoid burns, keep a towel around the pack when pressing it against your skin.

• Wrap or cover skin before applying cold-hot pack
• Read detailed instructions on product for proper use
• Cold Therapy: Use cold for sprains, bruises and other injuries. Follow standard "R.I.C.E. therapy" - rest, apply ice, compression and elevate
• Heat Therapy: Use heat for ongoing aches and pains. Moderate compression with heat helps promote improved circulation and healing
• Consult physician if pain persists
