The Almedic N95 Respirator is a conical mask made from soft comfortable material. It comes equipped with two adjustable elastic straps and a flexible nose piece for a secure and safe fit.  The N95 provides a 95% filter efficiency level against particulate aerosols free of oil, subject to time restrictions. These masks are useful for those working on home improvement or building restoration projects.  It will provide protection from smoke, dust, dangerous fumes or other pollutants.

The US Centers For Disease Control (CDC) has recommended the use of N95 respirators  to prevent transmission of certain diseases including Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)  in health care settings. However, if it a health care worker wears the mask in the presence of a patient suspected of having SARS,  he or she should remove and discard the respirator after leaving the patient’s room. Ideally, the health care worker should not re-use the respirator. After removing and disposing of the respirator, the health care worker should apply hand hygiene. Reuse may increase the potential for contamination through contact with infectious droplets on the outside of the respirator.

The masks are comfortable to wear and allow you to continue breathing normally  without exposing your lungs to irritants or dangerous elements.

Answered by the admin It's best to dispose of the mask after use, as they are single use only. It is possible to reuse them, but there is a risk of infection unless certain procedures are carefully followed. The United States CDC has issued some guidance here but they state that the masks should be reused only in very limited situations.

Answered by the admin As stated, the NIOSH Certified Disposable N95 respirator mask can provide some protection against the SARS coronavirus. However, although the Wuhan coronavirus belongs to the same general family of viruses, it is a different virus and what worked for SARS may not be as successful with another coronavirus like Wuhan. If you decide to use an N95 respirator for protection from the Wuhan virus (also called 2019-nCoV), be sure to use one that is NIOSH certified and disposable, and be careful to also take other measures such as the use of hand sanitizers and eye protection. Above all, we would recommend following your doctor's advice on how to protect yourself from the Wuhan virus. Other authoritative information can be found by following the CDC or Health Canada websites (e.g. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html).
