Q: I am looking at the ankle braces. My adult daughter who is a size 10-10.5 sprained her left ankle. She is fairly heavy. She needs a brace to prevent more sprains. she has done it a number of times now………….The Bio skins look good. Is the TriLok out of stock? Can you recommend the next best? thanks
A: Hi, David! The best brace for that would be the trilok(bioskin) You may order it on our www.dunbardirect.com website. It has a “strapping” system that once you get the hang of it, it is a fantastic brace. It goes by shoe size, so she would need a medium. They are in stock
Q: I have just got the ankle brace and I need to know where does the white strap go. this is for the right ankle
A:The “cardboard” insert that has a picture of the brace on it…if you turn it over, it has details on how to apply. There is also a website for video viewing listed there.
Q: I have watched the video, it was helpful to a point, but I do not understand where the white strap geos . right now I have it going around my ankle and hooked it to the inside of the ankle. without the brace on I roll to the outside. pinky toe roll over.,
A: The white strap goes on the foot only. The black “stirrup strap” does a figure 8 around the ankle. Have you looked at the instructions on the inside of the insert? You put the brace on..the white strap attaches to it.
Q: I Understand that? deos the white strap go on the inside of the ankle or the outside of the ankle? I know it raps around.
A:It does not involve the ankle. it goes on the “arch” of your foot, to secure the foot. Only the “black” strap goes around the ankle in a fig 8 configuration
Q: okay. so the ankle support comes from the black strap that wraps in a Fig 8?
A: The fig 8 wrap will secure the foot. The white footlok strap will prevent you from “rolling” your ankle, if locked in properly.
Q: What’s the price? I’m looking left foot and I wear a women’s 10-11 shoe
A: You can order online at www.dunbardirect.com..size md 8 to 11 shoe
Q: Yeah I’m ordering the bioskin trilok, looking for something for in the swimming pool as well. So is the 9358 (bioskin figure 8 wrap) latex free? Cause I can just use the wrap then.
A: They have a std ankle skin that might work.It has some compression to it. It can go in the swimming pool, but needs to hand washed after use. It is latex free, but is elasticized, so would wear over something, not directly on the skin.
Q: Yes. So one last question, please bare with me. Which would you recommend for simple sleeve or wrap for in water that’s latex free?
A: What is wrong with your ankle. The trilok is meant for sprains and is preventative for “rolling” your ankle so you will not sprain it. If you only need some mild support, then I would go with the bioskin sleeve. Be careful of sizing though, as they do fit “snug” because of the compression.
Q: I have a peroneal tendon tear at 5th metatarsal insertion, with a secondary tear around malleous and subluxation when moving. Trying to put off surgery, and the trilok recommended by physio to stabilize the peroneal tendon and atfl. The sleeve it just for compression in water when swimming where the trilok will take place of the aircast boot
A: I am not sure what all that means..I am not a technical person, so need it explained in laymans terms…sorry. Then you had better go with what was recommended by the physio. The Triklok is a very good brace, but it has a “strapping” system(white footlok and black fig.8 wrap) but once you get the hang of it, it is a exceptional brace.
Q- What is the smallest Bioskin ankle brace that it has. I am loooking for a size 4 girls foot.
A – The trilok starts at a women’s size 4 shoe. The AFTR and Std ankle skin, do a circumference measurement around the ankle.(heel over foot back to heel) smallest starts at 10″ for the std and 11″ for the AFTR
Q- Ok…My thought then is the Trilock as that will give the most support in the ankle…Am I correct in saying that?
A – Please keep in mind that a women’s size 4 and a childs size 4 are not the same. I feel it will be too big for her…just a thought.
Q – Um….the ankle is 14 years old. Her shoe size is 4. What other styles of braces would you recommend for this individual. Also, FYI she’s a cheerleader.
A – That’s an old ankle, lol! If she is 14, then there may be a chance that she would fit into a sm trilok
Q – LOL….ok….what other brands should I also try on her?
A – I checked the inventory we offer for small ankle braces and they all start at sm. Perhaps the best one to try would be the trilok?
Q – That was my thought as well…As it’s a really good support. Also it’s very streamlined to fit in a shoe. THanks, I will need to go an order one. Is the process still the same, that I can simply just call it in?
A – yes
