Iliotibial band syndrome is a common type of knee injury caused by damage to the iliotibial band, a thick band of tissue that connects the pelvis to the knee. It plays a crucial role in activities like running, hiking, cycling or weight lifting. This type of injury occurs when the band, which moves from the back of the femur to the front during the act of running, becomes inflamed by friction against the knee. Symptoms can range from a stinging sensation just above the knee to swelling or thickening of the tissue in the area where the iliotibial band moves over the femur (thigh). Pain may also occur when the individual twists the knee in the act of turning a corner. The products below will help to relieve the pain of this condition.
