Tensor Bandages

Tensor bandages are long strips of stretchable cloth that your doctor wraps around a sprain or strain. The pressure from the bandage reduces the flow of blood to the injured area. This in turn reduces the swelling from the injury and eases the pain.

In addition to their use by your healthcare practitioner, you can use these bandages to treat mild injuries at home.

In general, tensor bandages are more effective in the first one or two days after you have suffered the injury. After this period, other forms of treatment may be more effective. In general, these bandages are both washable and reusable and are relatively inexpensive.

The bandages come in widths of 2″ to 6″ and may be of single length (6 yards) or double length (12 yards). They may also be classified as “econo” or deluxe, depending on the quality of the materials used to make them.
